Chef MikeC. is an acclaimed culinary instructor, executive chef, cooking show host, brand ambassador, emcee, and food and wine consultant with almost two decades of experience. His passion for educating home cooks and professional alike, has lead him on a unique culinary journey spanning over three decades.
Hailing from a family of educators, scientists, and engineers with a passion for organic gardening, winemaking, and cooking, the stage was set for MikeC.’s lifelong exploration to understand the inner workings of all things culinary. He has crafted his gastronomic skills managing a natural foods grocery and Sur la Table culinary programs, graduating with honors from the California Culinary Academy, owning three catering companies in two states, partnering as chef at a successful wine bar in Berkeley’s famed Gourmet Ghetto, and working for some of his chef heroes such as Martin Yan and Jamie Oliver.
MikeC. was co-owner and executive chef of two highly successful home chef cooking schools in Berkeley, and has taught sold out classes in schools across the entire west coast. He is co-author of “Kitchen on Fire: Mastering the Art of Cooking in 12 Weeks (or less)”, was producer and star of the “Mastering the Art of Knife Skills” DVD, and chef/host of the final season of the long running PBS cooking show series “Organic Living with the Hippy Gourmet”. He is also the Consulting Executive Chef for the wine bar La Botella Republic in Berkeley.
After teaching cooking in and exploring wine country for almost a decade, Chef MikeC, decided to focus on the area he had fallen in love with so many years ago, the Napa Valley. A place filled with such a wealth of fabulous wines, locally crafted artisan foods, and wonderful people; it was just too hard to resist having his heart stolen. Being a seasoned chef explorer and educator, he set off on a new mission: to help people turn their wine country experiences into thrilling culinary adventures.
His vast culinary knowledge and understanding of consumer and professional markets has allowed MikeC to consult for brands such as Meyer Corporation (Anolon and Circulon brands), KitchenAid Corporation, and Messermeister Cutlery; tech companies such as Zynga, restaurants such as La Botella Republic and Taste, and wineries such Jessup Cellars, Humanitas, HALL, Spring Mountain Vineyards, and Bell Winery. Currently MikeC. is owner and executive chef of Wine Country Culinary Adventures, co-owner and chef of Costa Rica Culinary Tours, and Consulting Executive Chef for Augie’s Montreal Smoked Meat.
